The Riyadh Public Transport announced on Saturday the opening of two new stations on the Orange Line of the Riyadh Metro. This further enhances the city’s growing public transportation network. The new Railway Station and Jarir District Station are expected to ease commuter movement. They will improve connectivity in key areas of the capital.
The Orange Line (Line 3) stretches 40.7 kilometers. It runs from Madinah Road to Prince Saad bin Abdulrahman I Road. It is the third line of the Riyadh Metro.
The announcement follows the full activation of all six metro lines. The Orange Line officially launched on January 5, 2025. This completes the network’s phased rollout that began on December 1, 2024. The network now includes:
- Blue Line (Line 1)
- Red Line (Line 2)
- Yellow Line (Line 4)
- Green Line (Line 5)
- Purple Line (Line 6)
In just 75 days since its initial launch, the Riyadh Metro has:
- Recorded 18 million users
- Completed over 162,000 trips
- Covered 4.5 million kilometers
The fully operational Riyadh Metro spans 176 kilometers. It includes 85 stations and is the largest metro system in the Middle East. It also holds the title of the world’s longest driverless train system. The system features four major interchange hubs to streamline city-wide mobility.
