Qatar’s Prime Minister and UN Envoy Discuss Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis

Doha, Qatar – Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, met with HE Sigrid Kaag. She is the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza. Kaag is currently visiting Qatar.

The two leaders reviewed the strong relationship between Qatar and the United Nations. They explored ways to enhance their cooperation further. They also focused on the ongoing humanitarian challenges in Gaza. A significant portion of the conversation centered on ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches all areas of the Gaza Strip without hindrance. Both parties emphasized the importance of sustainable aid delivery.

Prime Minister Al Thani stressed that the international community must act decisively to address Gaza’s humanitarian crisis. He urged global stakeholders to confront the policies that have exacerbated the suffering of the Palestinian people. The Prime Minister condemned the starvation tactics employed by the Israeli occupation. He called for stronger efforts to alleviate the ongoing hardship.

As the situation in Gaza remains dire, Qatar continues to play an active role in supporting international humanitarian efforts. This meeting highlighted the urgency of coordinated actions to provide assistance to those in need.
