Qatar has officially been chosen to host the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) World Diabetes Congress in 2027. This decision follows a formal handover ceremony at the 2025 edition of the congress in Bangkok.
The successful bid was spearheaded by the Qatar Diabetes Association, with strong backing from the Ministry of Public Health, Hamad Medical Corporation, and Visit Qatar. In preparation for the 2027 congress, a delegation from Qatar attended the 2025 Bangkok edition. They aimed to promote the country as a premier destination for business events and began initial discussions with the Diabetes Federation organizers.
Visit Qatar’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) team played a key role in the bid. They engaged with international stakeholders and showcased Qatar’s tourism and logistical capabilities through an exhibition stand. This victory marks a significant milestone for Qatar’s growing role in hosting global events. It reinforces its status as a leading destination for conferences and congresses.
