Qatar Welcomes US-Yemen Ceasefire Agreement Brokered by Oman

Qatar has welcomed the US-Yemen ceasefire agreement, which was achieved through mediation by the Sultanate of Oman. This marks a significant step toward easing tensions in the region and improving maritime safety.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised Oman’s diplomatic efforts. The ministry also expressed Qatar’s appreciation for the agreement between the United States and the designated authorities in Sanaa, Yemen.

Qatar highlighted its hope that this US-Yemen ceasefire will enhance the freedom of navigation and protect international shipping routes. These waterways are vital for global trade and regional economic stability.

Moreover, Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to diplomacy and peaceful dialogue. The Ministry stressed that resolving conflicts through negotiations reflects Qatar’s core foreign policy values. “We believe in diplomacy as a path to long-term peace, regional security, and sustainable development,” the statement noted.

Qatar emphasized its belief in fostering cooperation to end conflict. It urged all involved parties to use this truce as a starting point for a broader political settlement in Yemen.

Additionally, the Ministry applauded Oman’s ongoing contributions to peace in the region. It noted that Oman played a crucial role in bringing both sides together to agree on the truce.

The US-Yemen ceasefire agreement represents a rare moment of hope in a long-running conflict. Regional leaders and international observers now look toward building on this momentum to achieve lasting peace and humanitarian relief in Yemen.
