The Qatar Stock Market experienced a strong surge yesterday, reflecting rising investor confidence. The QSE index jumped 185.84 points, closing at 10,346.22. This increase followed a previous session close of 10,160.38 points. Notably, trading volume climbed to 185.3 million shares, up from 77 million the day before.
Meanwhile, the total value of shares reached QR413.87 million, compared with QR153.2 million previously. Investors executed 17,935 deals across all sectors. Among listed companies, 51 recorded gains, three fell, and two remained steady. The market capitalization rose to QR612.77 billion from QR601.86 billion.
All seven sector indices ended in positive territory. Banks and financial services gained 1.44%, industrials rose 2.78%, transportation advanced 1.55%, and real estate increased 0.72%. Insurance grew 0.15%, telecoms surged 2.22%, and consumer goods and services climbed 1.31%.
The Qatar Stock Market also saw strong returns in key indices. The QSE Total Return Index jumped 1.83% to 25,539.26 points. The QSE Al Rayan Islamic Index gained 1.86% to 5,130.78 points. MSCI QSE 20 ESG Index added 1.50% to 837.70 points, and the QSE All Share Index rose 1.67% to 4,023.07 points.
Top performers included Qatar Aluminum Manufacturing (+5.9%), Damman Islamic Insurance Company (+4.5%), Widam Food Company (+3.8%), Qatar Industrial Manufacturing (+3.7%), and Industries Qatar (+3.2%). On the other hand, QLM Life and Medical Insurance (-2%), Qatar Islamic Insurance (-0.3%), and Meeza QSTP (-0.3%) declined.
Last week, QSE-listed companies reported a net profit of QR53.33 billion, a 3.11% rise from QR51.72 billion in 2024. Growth came mainly from services, consumer goods, insurance, and telecoms. The general index ended above 10,000 points, influenced by regional geopolitical developments.
Investors now await first-quarter results of QSE-listed firms. Positive expectations remain for banks, financial services, insurance, services, and consumer goods. Analysts predict continued momentum in the Qatar Stock Market if economic conditions remain stable.
