A delegation from the State of Qatar, led by H.E. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Jaham Al Kuwari, President of the General Tax Authority (GTA), is taking part in the annual meeting of the Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS). The event gathers representatives from over 140 countries to discuss international tax challenges. The event is held from April 7 to 10 at the International Convention Center in Cape Town, South Africa.
Organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the meeting brings together representatives from member countries of the Inclusive Framework. International experts, academics, and officials from global institutions are also present. Discussions are focused on the progress made over the past decade in combating tax avoidance and improving international tax standards.
Key topics at the meeting include updates on the second pillar of the BEPS project. They also focus on strategies for enhancing tax compliance, improving revenue rights management, and simplifying tax procedures to promote economic growth.
Qatar’s participation highlights its commitment to strengthening international cooperation in tax matters and aligning with global efforts. These efforts enhance transparency and information exchange between nations. The GTA emphasized that this involvement reflects Qatar’s dedication to shaping equitable global tax policies. It also reinforces Qatar’s role as a prominent economic and investment hub in the region.
The GTA noted that fostering a fair and transparent tax environment is vital for ensuring long-term financial and economic sustainability in Qatar.
