Qatar International Friendship Artistic Gymnastics Championship Concludes Successfully

Doha, Qatar – The Qatar International Friendship Artistic Gymnastics Championship wrapped up last night at Aspire Academy, following two days of intense competition. A total of 225 young gymnasts from six countries—Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq—delivered remarkable performances.

Divided into 16 teams, the athletes showcased outstanding skills that impressed both the audience and officials. The tournament witnessed fierce competition, creating an exciting atmosphere for gymnastics fans.

Ali Al Hitmi, President of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF), led the Organizing Committee in crowning the winning gymnasts at the closing ceremony. The event attracted a large audience, adding to the electric atmosphere.

Tournament Director Samira Said expressed her satisfaction with the event’s success, highlighting the high level of competition and enthusiasm. “We were confident this would be a highly competitive tournament given the caliber of participating nations. The performances exceeded our expectations,” she stated.

“This tournament provided valuable experience for young and senior gymnasts, refining their skills and preparing them for higher-level competitions. The performances were remarkable, promising even better levels in future editions,” she added.

Discussing Qatari gymnasts’ participation, Said noted, “The championship featured 60 gymnasts from QGF-affiliated academies. They delivered outstanding performances, achieving commendable results. This strong competitive environment provided them with valuable exposure and experience.”

QGF Board Member Abdulrahman Al Muftah emphasized the tournament’s role in identifying emerging talents. “We observed several promising young gymnasts who have the potential for a bright future. Championships like this serve as a launching pad for future stars, and that was one of our key objectives,” he said.

Essa Al Hitmi, also a QGF Board Member, praised the championship’s overall success, from competition level to organization. “We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this edition, both technically and in terms of execution. The event received praise from all participants, especially from our fellow Arab nations, who recognized the great benefits their gymnasts gained,” he stated.

He also highlighted Aspire Academy’s world-class facilities and Qatar’s state-of-the-art sports infrastructure. “Such positive feedback is a testament to the championship’s success and Qatar’s capability in hosting top-tier sporting events,” he added.
