Qatar has welcomed the recent diplomatic talks held between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran in Muscat. These talks were under the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the constructive atmosphere of the discussions. They also applauded the positive statements issued by both sides. Additionally, Oman’s active role in facilitating the dialogue was commended.
In an official statement on Saturday, the Ministry reaffirmed Qatar’s firm support for resolving outstanding issues through diplomacy and dialogue. It emphasised the importance of such efforts in reinforcing regional and international peace, stability, and development.
The Muscat meeting brought together Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Abbas Araghchi and US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. Their goal was to initiate a negotiation process aimed at reaching a fair and binding agreement. Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, noted that the talks were held in a friendly environment. This atmosphere helped narrow gaps and boost the prospects for a peaceful resolution.
According to officials, the talks will continue next week following the conclusion of what were described as “indirect” nuclear negotiations. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted the constructive and respectful nature of the discussions.
