Qatar Gears Up for 17th Artistic Gymnastics World Cup at Aspire Dome

The Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) is finalizing preparations to host the 17th edition of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup (Taishan). The event is scheduled to take place at Aspire Dome from April 16 to 19. The international event will bring together 150 gymnasts from 20 countries. This includes 100 men, 50 women, and 35 international judges.

Chaired by QGF President Ali Al Hitmi, the organizing committee includes key figures such as Abeer Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Federation and Championship Director. It also includes Technical Director Mazen Taha. The team is working to ensure smooth technical and organizational delivery that reflects Qatar’s global reputation as a premier sporting destination.

“This year, we aim to deliver an even better edition with top-tier execution,” said Al Hitmi. He emphasized Qatar’s commitment to hosting high-caliber international events.

The competition will span four days. Qualification rounds will take place on the first two days, and finals on April 18 and 19. A total prize fund of $50,000 will be distributed across 10 apparatus events. Each event will receive $5,000.

The 2025 event boasts participation from top international gymnasts, including Olympic medalists. These include Karbanov from Armenia (pommel horse silver), a Kazakhstani vault silver medalist, and Tong Hong of Chinese Taipei (high bar bronze). It also includes China’s Ashaw Yaqian, a national champion and Olympic silver medalist on the balance beam.

Championship Director Al Buainain noted that the presence of such elite athletes enhances the prestige and excitement surrounding the competition.

Qatar will be represented by Salma Nasser and Rakan Al Hareth, who are currently competing in the World Cup in Croatia as part of their training. Their participation marks a significant opportunity to gain experience and raise the profile of Qatari gymnastics on the international stage.
