The State of Qatar has firmly condemned the recent assault on a humanitarian aid ship belonging to the Freedom Flotilla coalition. In a statement, the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted their denunciation of the attack, which occurred in international waters near Malta, as well as the ongoing Israeli blockade of Gaza. Qatar condemns these acts including the targeting of Palestinian fishermen off the coast of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
In a statement released Saturday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack on the aid ship as a serious breach of international law. The ministry said the assault threatens maritime security and the freedom of navigation.
The ministry demanded a swift and impartial investigation into the incident. It stressed that those responsible must be held accountable under international law.
The statement also denounced the ongoing obstruction of humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza. Qatar warned that such actions only worsen the deepening crisis in the besieged strip. Gaza has faced severe food shortages for two months due to the continued Israeli blockade of its border crossings.
Qatar highlighted that the targeting of fishermen’s boats is part of a wider pattern of aggression. These violations further restrict access to food sources for Gaza’s population and undermine their survival.
Calling on the world to act, the ministry renewed Qatar’s appeal to the international community. It urged global powers to pressure Israel to allow the safe, sustained, and unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to every part of Gaza.
Qatar repeated its firm position on the need for immediate relief access. It stressed the importance of upholding humanitarian law and protecting civilians.
As the crisis in Gaza deepens, Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian principles and international justice.
