Qatar Chamber Discusses Strengthening Trade Ties with Russia

Doha, Qatar – The Qatar Chamber (QC) held a key meeting with a Russian delegation led by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, H E Alexey Gruzdev. The session, chaired by QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, focused on expanding commercial cooperation between Qatar and Russia.

Exploring Investment and Trade Opportunities

The meeting brought together senior officials, including QC Second Vice-Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba and QC board member Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Mesned. Discussions covered economic relations, investment opportunities, and potential collaborations between Qatari and Russian business sectors.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim highlighted the strong economic ties between both nations. He emphasized the role of the Qatar-Russia Joint Business Council in strengthening private-sector partnerships. He also noted that many Russian companies are already investing in Qatar, while Qatari businesses have significant investments in Russia.

Russia Seeks Stronger Business Partnerships

Deputy Minister Gruzdev praised the growing trade relations between the two nations. He pointed out that Russian firms are eager to collaborate in key sectors, including finance, infrastructure, logistics, electric transportation, oil and gas, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals.

Gruzdev stressed that Russia offers attractive investment incentives and a business-friendly environment. He encouraged Qatari businesses to explore Russia’s expanding market, noting that Qatari investments were the first from the Gulf region to enter Russia. He also proposed a business forum to connect investors from both sides.

Qatar as a Gateway for Russian Investments

Eng. Ali Al Mesned underscored the importance of regular meetings between business leaders to foster trade cooperation. He highlighted Qatar’s potential as a strategic hub for Russian investments in the Gulf.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding economic partnerships, emphasizing the need for continued dialogue and collaboration to unlock new business opportunities.
