Qatar Ashghal Expands Smart Infrastructure Technology

Qatar’s Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has introduced advanced construction technologies aimed at improving efficiency and delivery standards across infrastructure projects in the country.

The authority said the move forms part of wider efforts to adopt smart solutions and modern engineering systems to support Qatar’s growing infrastructure sector.

Among the technologies being deployed is the Wirtgen SP 25 paving machine, which is designed to improve curb construction and paving operations through automated and digitally controlled systems. Ashghal said the equipment allows concrete work to be completed more quickly while reducing dependence on traditional labour-intensive methods.

The latest development under Qatar’s Ashghal Adopts Advanced Technologies to Boost Infrastructure Project Efficiency reflects a broader regional trend toward integrating automation and smart engineering into major public projects across the Gulf.

According to the authority, the machinery uses three-dimensional control systems and digital modelling to improve construction precision, particularly on roads, curves and roundabouts. It also includes automated navigation systems that remove the need for traditional stringline guidance methods.

Officials said the technology is expected to improve resource management, reduce project timelines and enhance the overall quality of completed infrastructure works.

The announcement linked to Qatar’s Ashghal Adopts Advanced Technologies to Boost Infrastructure Project Efficiency comes as Gulf countries continue investing heavily in smart city development, transport infrastructure and sustainable urban expansion.

Qatar has accelerated infrastructure modernisation efforts in recent years through large-scale transport, road and urban development projects aimed at supporting long-term economic growth and population needs.
