Qatar and Jordan Discuss Regional Mediation Efforts and Middle East Stability

Foreign ministers from Qatar and Jordan have held talks focused on regional tensions, diplomatic mediation efforts, and ongoing attempts to maintain stability in the Middle East.

Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani spoke by phone with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Wednesday, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

The discussions covered bilateral relations and ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, alongside regional developments linked to the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

Both sides reviewed broader efforts aimed at easing tensions and preventing further escalation across the region.

During the call, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of supporting mediation initiatives and diplomatic dialogue to address the underlying causes of the crisis through peaceful means. He also emphasized the need to reach sustainable agreements that could help prevent renewed conflict.

The talks came amid continuing international diplomatic efforts following recent tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, as well as disruptions linked to maritime trade routes in the Strait of Hormuz.

Separately, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari called for stronger international cooperation and renewed support for institutional dialogue frameworks during remarks delivered at the NEXT Milan Forum organised by the Italian Institute for International Political Studies.

Al-Ansari said increasing mistrust among international actors was complicating efforts to resolve global crises and warned that the absence of political solutions was contributing to growing pessimism, particularly among younger generations.

He also highlighted the importance of mediation, diplomacy and international institutions in bringing conflicting parties together and supporting practical pathways toward stability and conflict resolution.
