Qatar Airways Expands Global Flights: New Routes to China, US, and Europe Starting April–May 2026

Qatar Airways is boosting its global connectivity, adding several key destinations in China and beyond. The airline announced it will resume flights from Doha to Hangzhou, Chongqing, and Chengdu starting May 16, 2026, reflecting a strategic push to strengthen ties with the Chinese market. Scheduled passenger services to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong have already restarted.

The airline highlighted that Chinese carriers have not yet resumed flights to Qatar. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways has no immediate plans to restart its suspended Dubai route, which paused in mid-March, while Emirates continues operating flights to China.

In addition to China, Qatar Airways has updated its operational schedule for April 16–30, 2026. This update includes the resumption of eight destinations: Abidjan, Accra, AlUla, Geneva, Ha’il, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Stockholm Arlanda. However, several destinations remain temporarily suspended, including Abha, Abu Dhabi, Adelaide, Alexandria, Almaty, Amman, Ankara, Atlanta, Auckland, Baghdad, Bahrain. With Basra, Baku, Beirut, Brussels, Chengdu Tianfu, Chongqing, Dubai, Dusseldorf, Istanbul, London Gatwick, Milan, San Francisco, and others.

The new schedule also introduces increased flight frequencies and upgraded aircraft on multiple routes. Notable highlights include:

  • Doha–Abidjan–Accra: Two weekly flights on a 787-8 starting April 17
  • Doha–AlUla: Two weekly flights on an A320 starting April 17
  • Doha–Los Angeles: Three weekly flights on an A350-1000 starting April 17
  • Doha–Seattle: Three weekly flights on a 777-200LR starting April 18
  • Doha–Stockholm Arlanda: Four weekly flights on a 787-8 starting April 16

Additionally, Qatar Airways is expanding operations to major hubs, including Amsterdam, Athens, Bangkok, Barcelona, Beijing, Berlin, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London Heathrow, New York JFK, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo Narita, and Washington Dulles.

As of April 1, 2026, Qatar Airways continues to adjust its schedule to meet market demand while providing flexible travel options for international passengers. The airline’s network expansion reflects its commitment to connecting Doha with key global markets, supporting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
