Prime Minister Highlights Dialogue as Key to Iraq’s Stability

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani attended the 7th Baghdad International Dialogue Conference in the capital, Baghdad. Organized by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, the event focused on “Communication for Development and Regional Stability.” Many researchers and stakeholders from Iraq and across the world participated.

During his speech, Al-Sudani stressed that dialogue remains essential for fostering national unity and ensuring Iraq’s stability. He emphasized that open discussions help reveal opportunities and perspectives that decision-makers might overlook. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to using dialogue to address local, regional, and international challenges.

Al-Sudani assured that national dialogue remains open for resolving critical issues. He reiterated that Iraq follows a balanced foreign policy, avoiding alignment with any single political axis. Instead, Iraq engages with all efforts to prevent conflict while maintaining its firm stance on global matters, especially the Palestinian cause.

Key points from the Prime Minister’s speech:

His government remains fully committed to fulfilling responsibilities despite internal and external political challenges. Meeting public expectations while maintaining Iraq’s stability requires strategic decision-making.

Al-Sudani stressed that a balanced approach helps Iraq avoid the negative consequences of external influences. He emphasized the importance of national interests and public will in decision-making.

He also highlighted the ongoing crisis in Gaza as part of a long history of struggles faced by Palestinians. He described it as a crucial moment in the fight for justice and recognition of Palestinian rights.

The Prime Minister stated that Iraq remains determined to pursue economic development and reconstruction without delays. Major projects, including the Development Road, will serve as economic pillars to enhance Iraq’s stability.

Al-Sudani reaffirmed that the Development Road creates opportunities for economic partnerships with neighboring countries. This initiative strengthens Iraq’s historical, economic, and cultural significance within the region.

He highlighted Iraq’s role in facilitating regional dialogues, such as those between Saudi Arabia and Iran. He emphasized that responsible dialogue contributes to stability across the Middle East.

Through diplomatic efforts, Iraq successfully transitioned from the Global Coalition Against Daesh to bilateral security coordination with coalition members. Al-Sudani credited public and parliamentary support for achieving these diplomatic milestones.

Trade, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation with regional and global partners remain key to strengthening Iraq’s stability. Maximizing natural resources while fostering regional collaboration ensures long-term growth.
