Over 6.8 Million Passengers Travel Through Saudi Airports During Umrah Season

More than 6.8 million passengers, including pilgrims, passed through four major Saudi airports during the Umrah season in 2025, spanning from the first of Ramadan to the seventh of Shawwal, according to Matarat Holding Company.

The four airports involved in handling the heavy passenger traffic were King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, Prince Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Yanbu, and Taif International Airport. These airports played a crucial role in accommodating the influx of travelers during the Umrah season.

Of the total passenger count, over 4.6 million were on international flights, covering both arrivals and departures, while 2.1 million passengers traveled on domestic flights. In total, approximately 40,000 flights were operated during this period, with over 25,000 international flights and more than 14,000 domestic flights ensuring the smooth movement of pilgrims and other travelers.

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah handled the highest volume of passengers, processing more than 5.3 million travelers. Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah followed with over 1.1 million passengers. Meanwhile, Prince Abdulmohsen bin Abdulaziz Airport in Yanbu and Taif International Airport together accounted for more than 212,000 passengers.

To ensure a seamless experience for passengers, Matarat Holding Company, in coordination with relevant authorities, worked tirelessly to manage the flow of travelers. This included deploying additional field teams, enhancing operational staff, and improving passenger services at the terminals. The company also provided various amenities and streamlined travel procedures to support the smooth movement of pilgrims and other visitors during the peak travel season.

These efforts reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to maintaining high standards of service and efficiency, especially during significant periods such as the Umrah season, ensuring that pilgrims’ journeys are as smooth and convenient as possible.
