Omani Royal Cavalry Horse Race Showcases Heritage and Equestrian Excellence

Sayyid Bilarab presided over the Annual Royal Cavalry Horse Race in Barka, highlighting the excitement of the Royal Cavalry Horse Race. The event drew riders and enthusiasts from across Oman, emphasizing the country’s equestrian heritage and the significance of Arabian horses. The race also celebrated skill, tradition, and community engagement.

The main race, the Barka Race for Purebred Arabian Horses over 2,000 meters, saw the horse Falah win the Sultan’s Cup. Second place went to Saad, while Sunny du Loup finished third. The race offered a platform for elite riders to display their skills and compete at the highest level.

Earlier rounds included several exciting races. The Nakhl Castle Race for female riders of the Royal Cavalry covered 1,200 meters, with Al-Muheeb taking first place. The Al Hazm Fort Race, also 1,200 meters, was dominated by Royal Cavalry-owned horses, with Yasrah winning. The Wadi Bani Kharous Race of 1,600 meters saw Bakir claim victory, followed by Al Reem and RB Kinzman. The Ain Al Kasfa Race, for top citizen-owned horses, was won by Madmoun, with Dhawi and Izmir de Carrier completing the podium.

Between races, spectators enjoyed performances by Royal Cavalry riders, traditional arts from South Al Batinah, and displays of horsemanship. Local school students participated, showcasing equestrian skills. Horseback archery and a segment titled “Insight of a Knight” highlighted the inspiring story of a blind Omani youth and his bond with horses. Mini horse-drawn carriages as well as horse beauty showcases added to the festive atmosphere.

Sayyid Bilarab launched the visual identity and official logo of the Royal Cavalry Horse Race during the event. The design features two opposing horse heads and incorporates the Royal Cavalry flag, symbolizing the royal interest in equestrian sports.

The Royal Court Affairs emphasized that equestrian sports remain a cultural priority. Continuous support has nurtured passion for purebred Arabian horses and inspired Omani youth to preserve authentic breeds. Organizers noted that holding the seventh edition in Barka strengthens riders’ skills and celebrates Oman’s rich heritage.

In conclusion, the Royal Cavalry Horse Race not only showcased elite competition but also reinforced Oman’s dedication to equestrian traditions and Arabian horse preservation. The event united tradition, sport, and community under one vibrant celebration.
