Oman participated in the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The meeting focused on the ongoing Israeli aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories.
H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the Omani delegation. During the meeting, he reaffirmed Oman’s steadfast support for Palestinian rights and the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza. He called for a full Israeli withdrawal from the area, the return of displaced persons, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also highlighted Oman’s opposition to any attempts to displace Palestinians. He stressed the importance of protecting Palestinian rights and preventing violations. Al-Busaidi urged the international community to implement an effective mechanism to halt Israeli aggression, protect civilians, and hold accountable those responsible for crimes committed in Gaza.
The meeting was chaired by H.E. Lejeune Mbella Mbella, Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations and current Chairman of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers. Several foreign ministers from OIC member states also attended the event.
Oman’s delegation included H.E. Ambassador Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel Al-Maskari, Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighbors Department. Also present was Minister Plenipotentiary Salem bin Mohammed Al-Busaidi, Consul General of Oman in Jeddah, and other Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.
On the sidelines of the OIC meeting, H.E. Sayyid Badr met with H.E. Dr. Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister. Their discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two nations. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments and emphasized the need for dialogue to resolve conflicts peacefully.
Additionally, H.E. Sayyid Badr met with H.E. Bakhtiyor Saidov, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister. The ministers discussed diplomatic cooperation and ways to develop economic, investment, cultural, and scientific ties between their countries.
