Oman Signs Deal to Build 45 Social Housing Units Under National Development Initiative

Oman has signed an agreement to construct 45 social housing units as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen social welfare and support low-income families across the country.

The agreement was concluded between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and Dar Al Atta’a Association during the 21st edition of the Oman Real Estate, Design & Build Exhibition and Conference 2026.

The initiative, titled “Together We Build, Together We Achieve Impact,” aims to provide safe and sustainable housing for eligible families in several wilayats across Oman, with a total investment exceeding OMR 1.8 million.

Under the agreement, 20 housing units will be constructed in the Wilayat of Al Amerat in Muscat Governorate, divided between two residential developments, while 25 additional units will be distributed across other wilayats in coordination with local charitable teams.

Officials said the project reflects Oman’s commitment to enhancing family stability, strengthening social cohesion and improving living conditions for vulnerable groups.

Dar Al Atta’a Chairperson Maryam Issa Al Zedjali said the association has already delivered more than 220 housing units under its social development programmes, noting that the new initiative builds on years of humanitarian work focused on housing support.

She also highlighted previous projects, including the “Hay Al Atta’a” development, which incorporated sustainable features such as solar energy systems and water recycling technologies.

Beneficiaries will be selected through coordinated assessments with charity teams across the wilayats to ensure transparency and that assistance reaches eligible families.

Officials added that the project is part of broader national efforts to integrate humanitarian work with development planning, ensuring long-term social impact through structured housing support.
