Oman Reaffirms 50% Vehicle Window Tint Limit

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has reaffirmed the country’s vehicle window tinting regulations, confirming that motorists may tint side and rear windows by up to 50%, while tinting the front windshield remains prohibited.

The clarification was issued through a public advisory aimed at responding to motorists’ inquiries and improving awareness of the rules while maintaining road safety standards.

According to the ROP, vehicles equipped with factory-installed tinted side windows are also permitted, provided the glass allows at least 30% light transmission.

The advisory further confirmed that motorists may use matte, or non-gloss, vehicle wraps and paint finishes as long as the vehicle retains some reflective appearance.

The police said the guidance is intended to make the regulations clearer for road users while ensuring compliance with traffic safety requirements.
