Oman Launches Drone Training Programme For Students

Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), in partnership with WingTech Company, has launched the DroneX summer technology programme to train school students in robotics, drone operations, and advanced aviation technologies.

The programme aims to develop students’ technical skills, increase awareness of safe drone use, and prepare young Omanis for future careers in the aviation and technology sectors.

Designed for students from Grades 9 to 11, the programme combines classroom learning with practical training during the summer break. Participants will explore drone technologies while developing hands-on skills and discovering potential career paths in civil aviation.

The training includes three main areas: drone operation, technical maintenance, and the manufacturing, assembly, and piloting of First-Person View (FPV) drones.

The Civil Aviation Authority said the initiative supports efforts to build national capabilities and encourage innovation among young people. It also aligns with Oman Vision 2040, which focuses on developing a knowledge-based economy driven by technology and creativity.

Through the partnership with WingTech, the authority aims to promote responsible drone use and strengthen interest in emerging technologies among the next generation of Omani innovators.
