Oman Announces Working Hours for Ramadan 1446 AH

Government Sector Working Hours

The Sultanate of Oman has announced the official working hours for Ramadan 1446 AH. For civil administrative units, the working hours will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This will be a continuous, five-hour shift. Heads of units can also adjust working hours, allowing employees to work between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The adjusted hours will depend on each unit’s operational needs and staff availability.

Remote Work Policy

Remote work will be allowed for eligible positions. However, at least 50% of the staff in each unit must be present physically in the workplace. This flexible arrangement ensures that units maintain productivity while offering employees more flexibility during Ramadan.

Private Sector Working Hours

In the private sector, working hours for Muslim employees will be reduced to six hours a day. The total weekly work time will not exceed 30 hours. This adjustment ensures that employees can balance their work commitments with their religious observances during the holy month.

Oman’s decision to reduce working hours during Ramadan shows the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce. The new schedules allow employees to meet both their professional and spiritual needs. With flexible hours and remote work options, both public and private sector workers can observe Ramadan while continuing their daily responsibilities.
