Oman Announces Eid Al-Adha 2026 Holiday Dates

Oman has officially announced the public holiday schedule for Eid Al-Adha 1447 AH, setting a nationwide break for employees across government institutions and private sector establishments.

According to the announcement issued by the Oman News Agency, the Eid Al-Adha holidays in Oman will begin on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, corresponding to 9 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH. The holiday applies to employees in the State’s administrative units, other legal entities, and private sector workers.

Work is scheduled to resume on Sunday, 31 May 2026, marking a five-day break for most employees across the Sultanate. The announcement provides early clarity for businesses and residents as the country prepares for one of the most significant Islamic holidays, which follows the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

The Eid Al-Adha holidays in Oman are part of a broader regional pattern in which Gulf countries coordinate public holiday periods based on the Islamic lunar calendar, while also aligning with administrative planning needs across both public and private sectors.

The Ministry of Labour noted that employers may require staff to work during the holiday if the nature of their operations demands it. However, such arrangements must be agreed upon in advance, and employees must be compensated in line with applicable labour regulations.

Eid Al-Adha is observed across the Muslim world and marks the culmination of Hajj rituals in Makkah, making it one of the most important dates in the Islamic calendar.
