Mwasalat Ends Cash Payments On Buses From August

Mwasalat will stop accepting cash payments on its public buses in Muscat and Salalah from Aug. 1, 2026, as the company moves to fully electronic fare collection.

Under the new system, passengers will be required to pay using approved electronic payment methods only.

The transport operator said the change is intended to speed up boarding, improve service efficiency and enhance the overall passenger experience across its public transport network.
