Kuwait’s Municipal Council approved key residential amendments in a session chaired by Abdullah Al-Mahri. The council finalized changes to the schedule of requirements and specifications for residential complexes inside and outside Kuwait City. These residential amendments aim to enhance urban planning and public convenience.
The council also endorsed the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport’s request to build four temporary and permanent roads for the Google Cloud Services site south of Mutlaa. These roads will link to Road No. 80. They will also connect to the central market for vegetables and fruits, improving access and traffic flow in the area.
In addition, the council approved the Public Prosecution’s request to waive fees for issuing description certificates for real estate cases under investigation. This move reflects ongoing efforts to simplify administrative procedures for the public.
Other approvals included requests from the Kuwait National Petroleum Company to allocate the site of facilities, administrative offices, and residential buildings. These were previously used by a Saudi company in the Al-Zour area. The council also canceled plans for a fuel filling station in the Al-Oyoun area.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs received approval to allocate part of the Abu Salama Mosque in Al-Qasr for constructing a family residence for the imam and muezzin. Additionally, the General Fire Force obtained approval to develop a multi-storey parking facility in the Mubarak Al-Abdullah suburb.
Council members highlighted that these residential amendments are part of broader urban development and infrastructure strategies. They stressed that improving accessibility, housing regulations, and public facilities remains a key priority for Kuwait’s municipal authorities.
Through these decisions, the council continues to streamline urban planning while meeting the needs of residents, government agencies, and businesses. The approvals reflect careful coordination between multiple authorities to enhance city functionality.
With these measures, the Municipal Council aims to ensure smoother public services, better transportation access, and improved living conditions across Kuwait. The residential amendments are expected to have long-term benefits for urban development. They also contribute to community well-being.
