Misnad Engages in High-Level Diplomatic Talks in Geneva

Geneva, Switzerland – Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad held a series of high-level meetings on Tuesday during the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. The meetings focused on regional crises, humanitarian aid, and international cooperation.

Misnad met with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk, where they discussed Qatar’s collaboration with the UN Human Rights Office. They also explored ways to strengthen it. The talks also covered key regional developments. These included the situations in Gaza, Syria, Sudan, and Ukraine.

She also met with Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, to discuss bilateral relations and humanitarian aid flow to Gaza. The discussion highlighted Qatar’s mediation efforts. These contributed to a ceasefire agreement and addressed other mutual concerns.

During a meeting with Dr. Hala Al Tuwaijri, President of the Saudi Human Rights Commission, Misnad focused on enhancing Qatar-Saudi ties. They emphasized human rights and women’s empowerment. They also exchanged views on joint efforts in advancing human rights across the region.

She later held talks with Andreas Kravik, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway. They discussed cooperation on humanitarian assistance, particularly for Gaza and Syria. They also explored ways to strengthen bilateral relations and addressed regional challenges.

Misnad’s engagements in Geneva underscored Qatar’s commitment to global human rights, humanitarian efforts, and diplomatic collaboration. These efforts aim to address pressing international issues.
