By the end of December 2024, Oman saw a significant milestone in its automotive sector, with the total number of registered vehicles reaching 1,753,872. Of these, private vehicles accounted for the largest portion, making up 79.6% or approximately 1,396,117 vehicles. This highlights the strong demand for personal transportation in the Sultanate.

Among the different categories of vehicles, those with engine capacities ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 cc were the most common, representing 54.4% of the total, or 954,137 vehicles. Additionally, white was the dominant color, with 42.5% of vehicles, or 745,196 vehicles, registered in this hue.

According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), commercial vehicles made up 14.5% of all registered vehicles, totaling 253,895 units. Rental vehicles accounted for 2.3% (39,919 vehicles), while taxis represented 1.6%, with 28,239 vehicles on the road.

In terms of weight, vehicles weighing less than 3 tonnes were the most popular, comprising 90.7% of the total, with 1,591,234 vehicles falling into this category. This suggests a strong preference for lighter, more fuel-efficient vehicles.
