Kuwait Visa on Arrival for GCC Residents New Tourist Visa Rules Announced

In a major update, Kuwait now offers a Kuwait visa on arrival for GCC residents. This new policy simplifies travel for expatriates living in Gulf countries. The government aims to boost tourism and strengthen regional ties.

Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, announced the decision. The new rules take effect immediately. Earlier, GCC residents needed pre-approval for a Kuwait tourist visa. Now, they can get a Kuwait visa on arrival for GCC residents directly at entry points.

Therefore, to qualify, applicants must hold a valid GCC residence permit. Additionally, their residency must be valid for at least six months. The Ministry of Interior published the decision in Kuwait Al-Youm, the official gazette.

Furthermore, the latest decision, numbered 1386 of 2025, replaces the 2008 visa rules. Previously, Decision No. 1228 governed GCC residents’ entry into Kuwait. The new policy aligns with Decree Law No. 114 of 2024. This law regulates foreign residency in Kuwait. Authorities believe the change will enhance tourism. Moreover, it will improve Kuwait’s relations with neighboring Gulf nations. The Ministry’s Undersecretary will oversee the implementation.

The Kuwait visa on arrival for GCC residents is a game-changer. Expats in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman can now visit Kuwait easily. Travel agencies and hotels expect a surge in visitors. Industry experts say this move will benefit Kuwait’s economy. Short trips and weekend getaways may become more popular. Business travelers will also find it easier to enter Kuwait.

Before flying, GCC residents should check their residency validity. The six-month requirement is mandatory. Airlines and immigration officers will verify documents upon arrival. Kuwait’s airports and border crossings are prepared for the new system. Officials assure smooth processing for eligible travelers. The government may introduce more tourism-friendly policies soon.

Kuwait’s new visa policy marks a significant shift. The Kuwait visa on arrival for GCC residents simplifies travel for millions. This step reflects Kuwait’s commitment to regional cooperation. It also opens doors for more tourism and business opportunities. Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on any further changes. For now, the process is straightforward and efficient. Kuwait welcomes GCC residents with a hassle-free entry system.
