Kuwait Strengthens Humanitarian Efforts in Partnership with ICRC

Kuwait has reinforced its commitment to humanitarian work through a strategic meeting with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The discussion focused on improving cooperation to support communities and advance aid programs. Humanitarian cooperation is central to Kuwait’s vision, and the meeting highlighted this from the start.

The Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Al-Wasmi, met with ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger and Director-General Pierre Krahenbuhl. Alongside their teams, they explored ways to strengthen joint humanitarian programs. The session highlighted practical strategies to deliver aid, assist vulnerable groups, and foster social unity.

Dr. Al-Wasmi emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to advancing Islamic values through humanitarian work. He said acts of charity, giving, and compassion are key to building strong communities. The meeting also underlined Kuwait’s role in ensuring that humanitarian cooperation aligns with national development goals.

The talks reviewed long-term projects in healthcare, education, and emergency relief. Dr. Al-Wasmi stated that the state prioritizes compassion, solidarity, and service, while all programs respect cultural and religious principles. Partnering with the ICRC allows Kuwait to expand aid programs while keeping them effective and accountable.

The meeting also examined ongoing collaborations. Both sides stressed the need to coordinate with local institutions to increase the impact of aid. They discussed how to involve civil society and community leaders in promoting a culture of giving.

Dr. Al-Wasmi concluded by reaffirming Kuwait’s dedication to humanitarian cooperation. He said the Ministry will continue supporting programs that help communities, strengthen social ties, and promote compassion and service.

Humanitarian cooperation, as emphasized in the meeting, remains a guiding principle for Kuwait. It strengthens efforts to protect vulnerable populations and encourages giving and social responsibility.
