Kuwait continues to renew its commitment to fighting human trafficking across the region. On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, national authorities emphasized stronger protections and public awareness. However, Kuwait’s fight against human trafficking remains firm and continues to evolve.
The National Human Rights Bureau highlighted the serious dangers of human trafficking. Officials described it as a global threat that violates human dignity. They also stressed the urgent need to raise awareness across all levels of society.
The Bureau pointed out that most victims are women and teenage girls. Over 70% of cases involve female victims, often forced into labor or other exploitation. However, children also face high risk, especially in organized begging or forced recruitment.
To combat this crisis, the Bureau launched a joint awareness campaign. The Ministry of Interior and the Permanent National Committee joined the initiative. These institutions will host a workshop at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences.
The workshop will include experts from government, civil society, and international partners. Organizers aim to increase knowledge, share strategies, and improve prevention methods. Kuwait’s fight against human trafficking continues to grow through such cooperative efforts.
The Bureau praised Kuwait’s strong legal framework. The country has passed strict laws targeting trafficking and related crimes. It also adopted a national strategy with clear goals and enforcement steps.
Officials also highlighted Kuwait’s international commitments. The country ratified the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime. Additionally, it created a dedicated national committee to address trafficking and migrant smuggling.
Authorities have introduced stronger penalties for residency-related trafficking. So, they also set up systems to protect victims and witnesses. These steps show Kuwait’s fight against human trafficking includes both prevention and support.
The Bureau called for unity between government and local organizations. They believe strong teamwork can improve results and stop more crimes. Kuwait’s fight against human trafficking continues to inspire action throughout the region.
