Kuwait Pushes Islamic Unity and Development Amid Regional Challenges

Islamic unity and development remain top priorities for Kuwait as the country emphasizes solidarity across Islamic and Gulf nations. Leaders stress that threats to regional stability affect the broader Islamic world.

Kuwait’s Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Al-Wasmi joined the executive council of the Conference of Ministers of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs via video call. The session was chaired by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Islamic Affairs, Abdullatif Al-Sheikh. Al-Wasmi highlighted Kuwait’s firm stance on supporting Islamic and Gulf unity.

He warned that any threats to security or stability in the region ultimately impact the entire Islamic system. Members of the council expressed deep concern over aggressive actions by Iran against Gulf countries and Jordan. These actions, they said, violate Islamic principles and good neighborliness.

Beyond political concerns, the council focused on promoting Islamic unity and development through waqf, or Islamic endowments. Delegates discussed how modern technology, including artificial intelligence, can improve management and efficiency. Al-Wasmi noted that adopting digital tools strengthens the economic impact of endowments.

The session also explored waqf’s potential contribution to GDP growth in Islamic countries. Council members shared successful practices in mosque construction and maintenance standards. They also reviewed systems for appointing imams and preachers. The aim is to modernize religious institutions while maintaining their spiritual mission.

Furthermore, officials discussed enhancing religious outreach programs. Efforts seek to counter extremism and highlight the true, positive image of Islam. They emphasized that collaboration across countries strengthens the faith community and promotes social cohesion.

Al-Wasmi stressed that Islamic unity and development require ongoing innovation and cooperation. Countries must combine traditional religious values with modern economic and technological tools. By doing so, they can achieve sustainable growth, improve community services, and reinforce social stability.

Overall, Kuwait continues to lead initiatives that integrate religion, technology, and economic planning. The government promotes solidarity, stability, and progress within the Islamic world. These efforts demonstrate the country’s dedication to both faith and modern development.
