Kuwait PM Holds Talks With European Leaders

Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah returned to Kuwait on Sunday after taking part in the first EU-GCC Geopolitical and Investment Summit in Greece, where he held a series of meetings with European political and economic leaders.

Representing Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the summit, the prime minister discussed bilateral cooperation and regional developments during separate talks with several senior European figures.

Among the meetings was a discussion with President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde, focusing on strengthening cooperation between Kuwait and the ECB as well as broader issues of mutual interest.

The Kuwaiti leader also met former UK prime minister Tony Blair, with talks covering developments linked to the summit and opportunities for further cooperation.

In another meeting, Sheikh Ahmad held talks with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides, where both sides reviewed bilateral ties and discussed ways to expand cooperation across multiple sectors. The discussions also included an exchange of views on regional and international developments.

The prime minister additionally met Finnish President Alexander Stubb to discuss relations between Kuwait and Finland and prospects for enhancing cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The summit brought together Gulf and European officials at a time of increasing attention on economic partnerships, energy security and geopolitical coordination between the two regions.
