Kuwait’s Ministry of Health has issued 50 citations against salons and health institutes found in violation of public health regulations, as part of nationwide inspection campaigns aimed at strengthening oversight and protecting public safety.
According to the ministry, joint field teams carried out inspections across all governorates to ensure compliance with infection control standards, sterilisation procedures, and the validity of employees’ health certificates.
Officials said the campaign is designed to maintain a safe environment for service users, reduce the risk of disease transmission, and reinforce adherence to approved health practices in licensed facilities.
Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr Al-Mundhir Al-Hasawi said the ministry will continue to intensify monitoring efforts and take action against any violations that could threaten public health.
He added that inspections focus on safety standards related to cleaning, disinfection, and equipment use, stressing that compliance remains a key requirement for all establishments.
Dr Mona Al-Khabbaz, Director of the Public Health Department, said the inspection system is supported by multiple subcommittees operating across Kuwait’s governorates, with participation from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Kuwait Municipality. She noted that this structure has improved coordination and increased inspection efficiency.
In a separate development, the ministry announced the launch of a new electronic platform to facilitate applications for the release of imported medicines and medical products.
The system, developed by the Department of Registration and Control of Medicines in cooperation with the Digital Health Sector, allows users to submit and track applications online for a wide range of products, including medicines, supplements, medical devices, and cosmetics.
Officials said the platform aims to streamline procedures, reduce processing time, and improve transparency by enabling fully digital submissions and real-time tracking.
The ministry said the initiative is part of Kuwait’s broader digital transformation efforts, designed to enhance service efficiency and strengthen regulatory systems in the health sector.
