Kahramaa Signs QR3.1 Billion Contracts to Strengthen Electricity Infrastructure

The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has signed new contracts worth QR3.1 billion to expand and upgrade Qatar’s electricity infrastructure, marking a significant step in the Kahramaa electricity infrastructure project. The agreements aim to support the growing demand for electricity and ensure a sustainable power supply across the country.

These strategic contracts were signed in the presence of Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi. Four major companies will carry out the Kahramaa electricity infrastructure project: Elsewedy Cables Qatar Company, Voltage Engineering Ltd. Co. (Qatar), Best and Betash Consortium (Türkiye), and Taihan Cable & Solution (South Korea).

As part of the Kahramaa electricity infrastructure project, Kahramaa will establish seven high-voltage substations. In addition, 212 kilometers of underground cables and overhead lines will be installed. These upgrades will improve the efficiency and reach of the national electricity network.

Al Kaabi praised Kahramaa’s continued dedication to energy development in Qatar. He said these new contracts show the country’s commitment to executing strategic plans like the Kahramaa electricity infrastructure project. These efforts will help the electricity grid keep up with rising demand and support national growth.

He emphasized that this project reflects Qatar’s long-term vision for energy sustainability. “Today’s signings demonstrate our clear focus on strengthening our electricity network. These plans ensure that our power infrastructure remains reliable and ready for future needs,” he added.

The Kahramaa electricity infrastructure project supports Qatar’s goal to meet increasing consumption through advanced energy solutions. With rapid urban and industrial expansion, these upgrades are both timely and essential.

The contracts also align with the country’s development strategy. Qatar continues to invest in cutting-edge infrastructure to support population growth and economic progress. Through projects like this, Kahramaa continues to play a vital role in delivering reliable power across the nation.
