Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani affirmed on Sunday that Iraq is ready to collaborate with the United Arab Emirates in the aviation sector.
Al-Sudani’s remarks came during a meeting with Saif Al-Suwaidi, Director-General of the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, in the presence of Iraqi Minister of Construction and Housing and Chairman of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority (ICAA), Benkin Rekani, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s strong desire to develop the aviation and air transport sectors, highlighting their critical role in boosting tourism and driving broader economic development.
Al-Sudani stressed the importance of building on recent advancements in Iraq’s aviation sector and expanding its capacities in line with the country’s broader renaissance.
Saif Al-Suwaidi, for his part, underscored Iraq’s strategic position as a key air corridor between East and West and its potential to serve as a vital hub for regional integration into the global aviation system.
Al-Suwaidi also reaffirmed the UAE’s readiness to enhance and deepen cooperation with Iraq across all areas related to civil aviation and air transport.
