Chaired by Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Qudah, and Iraq’s Minister of Trade, Atheer Dawood Al-Ghurairi, the committee focused on removing barriers to trade, exports, and imports. Their goal was ultimately to strengthen the economic relationship between the two nations.
Minister Qudah highlighted the progress made in overcoming obstacles to trade. He emphasized Jordan’s commitment to enhancing economic collaboration with Iraq and unlocking new opportunities for both countries.
Minister Al-Ghurairi further explained that the meetings aimed at advancing bilateral relations. This was specifically through the implementation of various agreements, protocols, and memoranda of understanding to ease trade flows.
A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on standardisation and quality control. The talks also addressed issues related to trade, industry, customs, and regulatory alignment. Both parties agreed to plan for the next meeting at a later date.
Preparatory discussions were led by Dana Al-Zoubi, Secretary-General of Jordan’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Qaisar Al-Hashemi, Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Trade. Minister Qudah also engaged in separate talks with Iraqi officials. He participated in the Baghdad International Fair and the Iraq-Jordan Business Forum.
