Indians in Oman Celebrate Republic Day with Culture and Community Spirit

Indian expatriates in Oman came together to celebrate India’s Republic Day abroad, highlighting the country’s democratic values and rich cultural heritage. The events offered a platform for the community to connect, share traditions, and strengthen bonds with Oman.

The Embassy of India in Muscat hosted the annual Flag Unfurling Ceremony at 7 a.m., inviting Indian nationals and friends of India to witness the event. Students from Indian schools proudly sang the National Anthem, performed patriotic songs, and participated in flag-hoisting activities. These moments allowed attendees to connect deeply with India’s history and constitutional values.

Across Oman, schools organized lively programmes combining learning with celebration. Students showcased dances, skits, and songs honoring India’s freedom struggle and democratic ideals. Teachers emphasized that these activities teach children about civic responsibility, unity, and national pride. Republic Day, therefore, became more than a ceremony—it became a lesson in citizenship for young minds.

Later, the Embassy hosted a Community Reception on January 28 at Crowne Plaza, Qurum. The gathering featured vibrant cultural performances, folk dances, musical shows, and an art exhibition. Local and expatriate artists contributed creative works celebrating India’s heritage and its cultural ties with Oman. Attendees also appreciated the chance to share traditions and foster cross-cultural understanding.

Maritime achievements and civic pride also marked the celebrations. Participants shared that celebrating India’s Republic Day abroad brings the community together and strengthens awareness of democratic principles. Many remarked that the events help reinforce the importance of citizens’ roles in shaping a progressive nation.

Community leaders highlighted that the Republic Day programmes in Oman reflect India’s unity in diversity. The combination of school events, embassy ceremonies, and artistic performances strengthened people-to-people connections between India and Oman. Moreover, cultural and artistic displays formed the heart of the celebration, showcasing India’s spirit, constitutional values, and friendship with Oman.

In conclusion, celebrating India’s Republic Day abroad in Oman gave expatriates a meaningful way to honor the country’s past and celebrate its present achievements. By engaging students, artists, as well as community members, the Embassy demonstrated how India’s traditions continue to inspire pride and participation worldwide.
