Illegal Smokeless Chewing Tobacco Seized in Buraimi

The Consumer Protection Department in Buraimi Governorate, in cooperation with the Oman Environmental Holding Company (Bee’ah), recently destroyed a significant amount of illegal smokeless chewing tobacco. This action highlights the government’s continuous commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring consumer safety.

The authorities seized 2,300 bags of smokeless chewing tobacco, with each bag weighing 100 grams. In total, they confiscated 230,000 grams, or 23 kilograms, of the harmful product. These items violated Decision No. (256/2015) and its amendments, which prohibit such products due to their serious health risks.

After seizing the products, the authorities disposed of them according to legal procedures. This move guarantees that these dangerous products will not affect consumers. The Consumer Protection Department and Bee’ah continue to play a vital role in promoting a healthier, safer environment for the public.

This crackdown is part of a larger effort to reduce the availability of illegal and harmful products. By targeting smokeless chewing tobacco, the government ensures that consumers are protected from health hazards. It also underscores the importance of enforcing existing laws to prevent illegal products from entering the market.

The government urges consumers to remain alert. Anyone who suspects the presence of illegal products should report them immediately through available communication channels. This will help prevent further distribution of harmful goods and contribute to a safer marketplace.

In conclusion, the destruction of illegal smokeless chewing tobacco in Buraimi is a significant step in protecting public health. The authorities remain committed to enforcing strict regulations and eliminating harmful products from the market. Consumers also have a key role to play in reporting violations and ensuring a safer community for everyone.
