Hamad International Airport named best in the Middle East for 11th consecutive year

Hamad International Airport (HIA) has been recognized as one of the world’s leading airports at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards held in Madrid, Spain. It retained its title as the Best Airport in the Middle East for the eleventh consecutive year. HIA also won Best Airport Shopping globally for the third year in a row. Additionally, the airport received the prestigious 5-star Airport Rating.

The airport continues to raise the bar in aviation excellence, offering a seamless travel experience supported by extensive facilities. Passengers have access to over 197 destinations. They are also provided with a variety of shopping and dining options, entertainment zones, a tropical indoor garden, and a curated art collection by internationally renowned artists.

Its collaboration with Qatar Duty Free has further elevated the global airport retail experience by combining luxury brands with locally inspired boutiques. This combination is tailored to suit all traveler preferences.

Hamad Ali Al Khater, Chief Operating Officer at HIA, said the awards reflect the airport’s dedication to quality and innovation. “Being named Best Airport in the Middle East for the 11th year and Best Airport Shopping for the third time reflects our commitment to delivering an exceptional passenger experience,” he said.

He added that the recent opening of Concourses D and E has expanded the airport’s capacity to over 65 million passengers annually. The expansion incorporates smart infrastructure, sustainable design, and next-generation retail. These elements are aimed at enriching the overall travel experience.
