GTA Introduces Full Penalty Exemption for Businesses

Doha – The General Tax Authority (GTA) has launched a 100% financial penalty exemption initiative to support businesses and boost the economy. The initiative, set to begin on March 1, 2025, will run for six months under specific regulations.

With this initiative, the GTA aims to ease financial burdens on companies while ensuring they meet tax compliance requirements. Businesses seeking exemption must register on the “Dhareeba Tax Portal” and update their taxpayer information. Additionally, they must submit all required tax returns and financial statements according to official guidelines.

To remain eligible, companies must also commit to full compliance over the next three years (2026, 2027, and 2028). This includes submitting tax returns on time and fulfilling all tax obligations without delays. The GTA highlighted that this step aligns with national economic policies and encourages business stability.

During the exemption period, businesses can apply for penalty waivers through the Dhareeba Tax Portal. The GTA will review each application individually and notify applicants of approval decisions through their portal accounts.

This initiative demonstrates the GTA’s ongoing efforts to create a favorable tax environment while promoting economic growth. By offering businesses a chance to rectify their compliance status, the authority aims to encourage responsible financial practices and strengthen the overall business landscape in Qatar.
