Doha – The Gulf Organisation for Research & Development (GORD) and Dhofar University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote sustainable development and climate resilience in Oman.
The agreement was formalized during the REWAA Dhofar: Sustainable Development in Oman event. The event was held under the patronage of Professor Amer bin Ali Al Rawas, President of Dhofar University. The MoU was signed by Professor Al Rawas and Dr. Yousef Alhorr, Founding Chairman of GORD.
Professor Al Rawas emphasized academia’s role in preparing future generations for emerging challenges, particularly in sustainability. “It is critical that educators stay at the forefront of the latest standards. This ensures students are well-equipped for the future,” he stated.
Dr. Alhorr highlighted the significance of integrating green building practices into engineering curricula. “Our collaboration with Dhofar University represents a strategic investment in sustainability education. It provides professionals with the skills to support Oman’s green building sector,” he said.
The partnership aligns with Oman Vision 2040. It aims to foster a new generation of engineering leaders proficient in sustainable development principles.
