GCC Cooperation Strengthened At Bahrain Meetings

GCC cooperation received renewed attention as Bahrain hosted senior delegations from Gulf states. Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa welcomed the officials in Manama. The meeting took place at Gudaibiya Palace on October 8. It brought together leaders from several important GCC committees.

The delegations joined meetings focused on labour, social development, and civil service affairs. They also included GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi. The discussions formed part of several regional meetings taking place in Bahrain. These gatherings support coordination between GCC member states.

Prince Salman highlighted Bahrain’s continued support for stronger regional cooperation. He said Bahrain seeks initiatives that benefit GCC countries and their citizens. Furthermore, he linked cooperation with the aspirations of Gulf leaders and their people. He also stressed the importance of creating new opportunities across several sectors.

The Crown Prince noted the progress achieved through cooperation among GCC members. He said these achievements demonstrate the strength of relations across the Gulf. Therefore, he called for further coordination to build on existing progress. He also encouraged new initiatives that can support development and prosperity.

The meetings focused strongly on labour market development and social policies. They also examined civil service systems and opportunities for greater efficiency. The visiting delegation heads conveyed greetings from their respective GCC leaders. They delivered those messages to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. They also extended greetings to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Prince Salman returned the greetings on behalf of the King and himself.

Bahrain hosted the meetings during its presidency of the GCC Supreme Council. The country currently holds the presidency of the council’s 46th session. The session carries the name Bahrain Summit. Therefore, the meetings form part of Bahrain’s wider regional leadership role.
