Omani security forces have arrested five individuals in Dhofar Governorate after they were allegedly involved in a maritime smuggling attempt, according to local authorities.
The incident, described as “Five arrested in Oman for illegal entry, drug smuggling attempt,” took place when Coast Guard units, in coordination with police, intercepted a fishing vessel suspected of crossing into Omani waters illegally.
Authorities said the suspects were detained while attempting to bring narcotic substances into the country, marking part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border security and combat trafficking networks.
The Royal Oman Police confirmed that legal procedures are underway against those arrested.
Officials reiterated their continued focus on preventing illegal entry and drug smuggling, noting that security operations along maritime routes remain active.
