Excitement Builds as Qatar Drag Racing Championship Nears Final Round

Doha, Qatar – The Qatar Drag Racing Championship saw intense action during its fourth and penultimate round at the Qatar Racing Club (QRC) this past weekend. The event, held under the patronage of QRC Chairman HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani, thrilled fans with close competition across eight categories.

A key change in this round was the addition of a third qualifying session. This gave participants an extra opportunity to secure their place in the elimination rounds. Despite strong performances in the qualifying sessions, none of the leaders in the Index categories were able to continue to the finals and claim victory.

The Super Street category featured a fierce battle between Turki Al Dhufairi and Badr Al Sharshani, with Al Dhufairi emerging victorious. This marked his third title of the season and his fourth podium finish. It positioned him as a top contender for the overall championship.

In the Street Bike category, Mohammed Bou Rashid secured his third title, adding to his fourth podium finish of the season. He triumphed over Mousa Al Baloushi, who was participating in his first round of the competition.

The Index categories also delivered intense action. Hisham Al Awadhi clinched his third title in the Index 10.00 category by defeating Ali Haji. Mohammed Zaman won his first-ever title in the Index 9.00 category, overcoming Musabeh Ali Al Kaabi in the final. Rakan Ali Al Ajmi dominated the Index 8.5 category, securing his second consecutive win.

The final races in the motorcycle categories were equally thrilling. Saoud Al Wahibi defeated Hussein Ashkanani in the Index 8.5 category. Meanwhile, Zayed Al Baloushi claimed his first win of the season in the Index 4.80 category. Mustafa Atat won his first title in the Index 4.50 category. He defeated Rashid Al Baloushi.

QRC Director-General Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid Al Thani presented trophies to the podium winners in each category, congratulating the top performers. The competition will conclude with the fifth and final round. It will begin on Wednesday with testing and qualifying sessions.
