Dubai Launches Global Cybercrime Summit Amid Rising Digital Threats

Dubai officially opened the fourth World Police Summit at the World Trade Centre, sparking urgent calls for global unity. The event, hosted under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, highlights growing international security concerns. Lt General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, inaugurated the summit on a powerful note.

The central theme, Shaping the Future of Policing, focuses on adapting to rapidly evolving global threats. During his keynote speech, Lt General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri highlighted the explosion of cybercrime. He revealed that stolen personal and financial data on the dark web exceeded $100 billion in 2024. That figure represented a 42% surge in just twelve months.

He warned that ransomware now contributes to 25% of global cyber insurance claims, emphasizing the urgency of decisive action. Al Marri declared, “This is no longer a local concern. Shaping the Future of Policing demands collective responsibility.”

The summit showcases collaboration between global law enforcement leaders. It includes participants from the FBI, UK police agencies, and international security experts. These authorities are focusing on serious global crimes including human trafficking, gang violence, child exploitation, and digital threats.

Every session reinforces the importance of Shaping the Future of Policing through active cooperation. Workshops and panels help law enforcement strategize on prevention, innovation, and community resilience.

Dubai Police, in partnership with DXB LIVE, organized the summit to turn discussions into actionable plans. The sessions offer real-world guidance for global policing bodies to implement at home.

Throughout the summit, Shaping the Future of Policing serves as a repeated reminder of the stakes. With threats growing more sophisticated, only unified action can create lasting security worldwide.

The summit will conclude with strategic recommendations aimed at enhancing global enforcement capacity and collaborative resilience.
