The digital transformation programme in Oman has reached new heights, recording an 80% increase in overall performance since its launch in 2021. Officials confirmed the achievement at the end of May 2025, highlighting strong national progress in digital governance.
Compared to the first quarter of last year, performance surged by 19%. Clearly, this growth reflects successful strategies and significant improvements in digital and regulatory systems. These frameworks now effectively drive Oman’s digital government transition.
Moreover, government institutions have also shown strong gains in digital readiness. Their average score jumped to 81% by June 2024, marking a 7% improvement. In addition, infrastructure readiness climbed to 86%, confirming broader preparedness to deliver digital public services.
Furthermore, nearly 96% of targeted high-priority services have undergone simplification. Specifically, officials simplified 381 services through Manjam Labs, which specializes in optimizing government procedures. This effort directly aligns with Oman’s push to improve service efficiency.
As a result, about 74% of all priority services have been fully digitalised. Between January and May 2025, 48 government institutions completed over 11.4 million digital transactions. Notably, this volume signals strong user engagement and wider adoption of e-government platforms.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ali bin Amer Al Shizani, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, praised the collective work behind these gains. As chair of the technical committee for the digital transformation programme, he emphasized the commitment of government entities to national digital goals.
He added that institutional collaboration continues to align with the programme’s vision. Indeed, public agencies have embraced the effort, helping advance Oman’s digital infrastructure and deliver more services online.
Additionally, Dr. Al Shizani noted that the digital transformation programme will keep enhancing service quality. It aims to boost the underlying digital structure and complete the digitalisation of all remaining services.
In conclusion, Oman’s public sector continues to show strong digital growth. With improved infrastructure, simplified procedures, and committed leadership, the digital transformation programme stands as a key driver of national progress.
