Combating Trafficking in Persons: Bahrain’s Efforts and National Strategy

The National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons, chaired by Nibras Talib, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, convened for its regular session to assess Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to combat trafficking in persons. The meeting focused on several key initiatives, including the development of a national strategy to fight trafficking and a review of the 2024 annual report on the committee’s activities.

Talib highlighted Bahrain’s growing international reputation for tackling trafficking in persons, noting that the Kingdom is working closely with various government agencies to finalize a comprehensive national strategy. This strategy aims to guide future actions in the fight against human trafficking, positioning Bahrain as a regional leader in this effort.

The committee also discussed the outcomes of the sixth session of the Government Forum on Combating Trafficking in Persons in the Middle East, held recently in Kuwait. The forum focused on “Protecting Rights and Promoting Justice in Combating Trafficking in Persons” and served as a valuable platform for sharing best practices, exchanging expertise, and building a unified approach to the issue. The discussions from the forum contribute to the development of innovative solutions and effective strategies to address human trafficking on a global scale.

The meeting underscored the committee’s commitment to further enhancing Bahrain’s protection and prevention systems while strengthening collaboration with the international community. These efforts are crucial to maintaining Bahrain’s leading position regionally and globally in combating trafficking in persons. By continuing to develop and implement strong policies, Bahrain seeks to ensure justice for victims and contribute to the global fight against human trafficking.

In conclusion, through ongoing progress and international partnerships, Bahrain is making significant strides in combating trafficking in persons, reinforcing its commitment to human rights protection, and improving preventive measures.
