Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, recently hosted its annual Marhaba Tartans event. This event was organized to welcome the newly admitted Class of 2029.
The event offered incoming students and their families a chance to meet the CMU-Q community. They could also explore academic programs and gain insights into campus life ahead of the fall semester.
This year’s admissions cycle was CMU-Q’s most competitive yet. Nearly 3,000 applications from 107 countries were submitted. They were vying for only 115 spots, making the Class of 2029 the most selective in the university’s history.
“Marhaba Tartans is a wonderful opportunity for us to meet the exceptional students who have been admitted to CMU-Q,” said Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q. “It’s always inspiring to meet the next generation of Tartans and share the spirit of collaboration and innovation that defines our campus.”
Jarrod Mock, director of admission at CMU-Q, noted the calibre and diversity of the new cohort. He emphasized that Marhaba Tartans helps students connect with future classmates and professors and envision their journey at CMU-Q.
Applications for the Class of 2030 are set to open on September 1, 2025.
