The Bahrain Athletics Federation hosted its President’s Cup competition last Friday at the Bahrain National Stadium. This exciting event, organized by the Competitions and Referees Committee of the Federation, brought together local clubs for a thrilling athletics showdown.
As the competition progressed, Busaiteen Club emerged as the dominant force, claiming the championship cup. Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal, President of the Bahrain Athletics Federation, was present to award the trophy. In addition, gold medals were presented to champions in various categories, recognizing their outstanding performances.
Busaiteen’s success was undeniable, as they topped the overall medal standings with a total of 12 medals. Specifically, they earned 5 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze. Meanwhile, Al-Shabab finished second with 7 medals, including 5 gold and 2 bronze. Bahrain Club followed closely behind, securing third place with 6 medals, including 2 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze. Al-Hala finished fourth, while Sitra and Al-Ahli placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
In the general category, Adekani Mohammed of Al-Shabab truly stood out. He claimed first place in both the 1,500m and 800m races, with impressive times of 4:04.62 minutes and 2:02.38 minutes. Furthermore, Al-Shabab’s Alaa Samuel triumphed in the 200m race, finishing in 21.17 seconds.
In the youth category, Busaiteen’s Muthanna Hamed took first place in the 1,500m race, completing it in 4:42.44 minutes. Additionally, Rashid Nafihi of Al-Shabab won the 400m race with a time of 52.10 seconds. Adekani Mohammed also continued his success by winning the 100m race, clocking a time of 11.27 seconds.
Moving on to the junior category, Busaiteen’s Saud Abdulaziz earned first place in the 1,200m race with a time of 3:34.33 minutes. He also secured first place in the 400m race, finishing in 54.24 seconds. Meanwhile, Bahraini athlete Saud Mohammed claimed victory in the 100m race with an impressive time of 11.12 seconds.
Several other junior athletes impressed with their performances. Faisal Ahmed Yousef won the 80m race in 10.05 seconds, while Busaiteen’s Al-Baraa Mohammed Jassim claimed first place in the 800m race with a time of 2:18.94 minutes. Additionally, Khaldoun Ali Masoud of Busaiteen triumphed in the 200m race, completing it in 26.01 seconds.
Overall, the President’s Cup competition highlighted the skill and dedication of Bahrain’s top athletics clubs.
