The Bahrain-IOM cooperation continues to develop as both sides work closely to address migration, identity, and border management challenges.

During a recent meeting, Bahrain’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs met with Ayma Sharif. Sharif currently serves as the Head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Bahrain.

Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Dosari also attended the session as Assistant Undersecretary for Ports, Investigation, and Follow-up. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as passports, legal identity, and integrated border management systems.

Officials praised IOM’s contributions to global efforts in migration support and policy coordination. Moreover, both sides explored new ways to share expertise and modernize systems based on international best practices.

They reviewed the latest developments in identity verification and secure border procedures. These discussions align with Bahrain’s goals for modernization and digital transformation.

In addition, the meeting examined strategies to improve technical and administrative systems. These changes will align with evolving global standards. The Bahrain-IOM cooperation plays a crucial role in supporting secure and efficient individual movement through ports and checkpoints.

Officials also emphasized the importance of implementing United Nations programs related to migration and mobility. These initiatives not only strengthen Bahrain’s internal systems but also promote regional and global cooperation.

Both parties stressed that such collaborations improve national security and simplify procedures for residents and travelers alike. The Ministry of Interior continues to lead efforts to streamline its migration infrastructure. This includes digital identity upgrades and real-time data sharing.

By partnering with IOM, Bahrain gains access to valuable resources and expertise in the field of migration. Clearly, the Bahrain-IOM cooperation reflects a shared commitment to innovation, efficiency, and human rights in migration.

With sustained collaboration, Bahrain aims to create a secure, flexible, and future-ready migration framework.
